Project Proposal / Cost Estimator
Job Description:
Client is seeking an experienced Project Proposal / Cost Estimator with direct experience evaluating specifications and project requirements, outlining approaches for project execution, determining pricing strategies, gathering and documenting pricing data, developing estimating spreadsheets, and completing comprehensive proposals for Commercial and Government opportunities.
The ideal candidate will be someone who can clearly identify key project requirements and work with client teammates to establish a proposed scope of work.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analysis of bid information (RFPs, plans and specifications, flow down requirements, etc) to ensure compliance is achieved
- Determination of preliminary execution approach and pricing strategies
- Development of comprehensive and well documented cost estimates, written proposals and preliminary project schedules
- Partners with customers, architects, engineers, general trades, and internal stakeholders (sales, engineering, etc)
- Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Well-rounded understanding of all trade disciplines. Specific experience in steel fabrication and erection a plus.
- Ability to read and properly interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Background working with the FAR and DFARS is a plus
- Excellent writing and presentation skills
- Ability to multitask (develop estimates for multiple projects at once)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; specifically, MS Excel
- Good mechanical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Existing DoD Security Clearance a plus (not required at time of employment). Position will require that the selected candidate apply for and ultimately obtain a DoD Security Clearance (process to be supported by client Security Office).
- Ability to travel <5%, pre-bid site visits, scope review meetings, etc.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial or government construction
